Mosura and King Ghidora mated this morning. Pregnancy check in one month with puppies due early December. All brindle! Please fill out our puppy questionnaire if you’re not already on our list. If you have any questions about this litter feel free to contact us.
Mosura is one of the most shown and most awarded Japanese Akita in the country. She earned the Tokuyuu award from AKIHO, the highest award possible for any Japanese Akita in the world outside of the annual HQ show in Japan. She earned her Championship from UKC and became the second female in the breed ever to earn her Grand Championship. Mosura was also #1 in UKC Top Ten for Japanese Akita for almost two full years. She placed first in NIPPO-USA shows in recognition of her excellence; she has been shown under multiple registries, judges, and show styles and excelled in all of them.
In July Mosura became the very first Temperament Tested (TT) Japanese Akita. Unlike CGC, which measures a dog’s training and obedience, TT scoring is based on the dog’s reaction to and ability to recover from situations ranging from mundane to outright threatening. The test focuses on stability, shyness, aggressiveness, and friendliness as well as the dog’s instinct for protectiveness. Mosura passed with flying colors, and we’re thrilled to have a temperament like hers in our breeding program.
UKC’s motto is “Our Dogs Do Stuff” and ATTS promotes “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.” Both of these phrases apply to Mosura, who is an active girl that does a great deal of different activities. Most recently she has been enjoying Lure Coursing and Barn Hunt, canine sports which work with the dog’s prey drive and hunt drive respectively. She has also taken classes in nose work, swimming, obediance, pilates, and canine massage – but in truth what makes Mosura the most happy is any outdoor activity she gets to do with her family.
King Ghidora (aka Ghidora or KG) has also done really well in multiple show venues. He was awarded Saikoshou and Reserve Supreme from NIPPO-USA, becoming the first and only NIPPO-USA Champion Meiyoshou Japanese Akita. Ghidora earned his Championship from UKC and became the second Grand Champion in the breed ever. He was also #4 in UKC Top Ten for 2014 with an impressive lead over the other Japanese Akita in the Top Ten.
We’ve always said that King Ghidora is our “breed ambassador” because he loves everyone he meets. We take him to conformation shows, pet expos, cross-country trips, and public events where he is happy to schmooze and put on the charm. He is a laid back, mellow, low energy dog that knows how to “go with the flow.” We paired him with Bijo for our Litter B in hopes of getting that same low key temperament and were very happy with the results.
The puppies from King Ghidora’s two previous litters have all grown up now. His daughter, Gamera, became the very first Grand Champion in the breed last year. His son, Bruno, earned his CGC title around the same time. Gamera and Bruno have been getting their health clearances done this year and passed all of them so far. Both are gorgeous, well-adjusted and healthy young dogs, as are their other siblings. We look forward to more of the same from Ghidora for Litter C.
